Lt. Alexander Bonnyman Detachment #924 Marine Corps League Meeting Notes Date 27 March 2012
The Lt. Alexander Bonnyman Detachment met this date at Navy Operational Support Center/Marine Corps Reserve Center, 2101 Alcoa Hwy., Knoxville, TN. 33 members and 2 guests were present. The meeting was opened at 1815 by Detachment Commandant Laimon Godel.
I. Order of Business

B. Introduction of Guests
Robert Banks served 6/44 to 8/46 was at Iwo Jima. Stephen Samry served 1976 to 1986.
C. Guest Speaker A joint session was held with the Auxiliary. Jess Hernandez from the American Red Cross. Presented an information lecture and passed out information packet on what to do during power outage, thunder storms, tornados, and your pets and disasters.
D. New Members
•Applications for Membership
Robert Banks dues and paperwork present. Stephen Samry dues and paperwork present.
•Balloting on Membership Applications
Both applications were accepted by voice vote.
•Ceremony of Initiation
Both applicants were duly sworn in by Commandant Godel.
II. Old Business
Bill Voight made a motion: Motion made to accept the new budget for the Detachment. 2nd made by Howard Raines Passed by unanimous voice vote.
A.Commandant’s Report – Laimon Godel
•Dept Commandant Dave Hatfield was not available to give his report on the Mid-Winter conference. •The Bonnyman Gazette was delayed in being mailed out this month. •Marine Douglas Kahr is now in charge of hospitality. •At the Dine-in I tasted the beef and found it fit for human consumption. The ladies have stated that they want dancing at the Dine-in. It was stated that in years past that music had been provided but that no one danced. •Information from the Southeast Conference is in the newsletter.
B. Adjutant Report 1. Minutes - Motion to accept minutes L. Brown, 2nd J. Williams.
2. Correspondence A letter was received by National HQ expressing concern about wearing covers indoors.

•Herman Queener has had back surgery and is recovering. •Lloyd Morris is looking good.
E. Other Officer Reports
•Jr Past Commandant Virgil Young •Visited with Cody Evans at Fisher House. The repairs and remodeling of his Mother home are nearing completion but help is still needed. •The Medal of Honor Foundation will hold its 2014 conference in Knoxville and will be looking for assistance from the MCL Det.Jr Vice Commandant Jim Putman. •A safety break is scheduled for 6-8 April 2012, volunteers are needed. And proposed a get together once a month for dinner for general visiting by the membership.

7. Young Marines Unit Commander Report: Virgil Young •A joint Recruit Class of 72 Cadets is coming together Good. •The division will have an encampment coming up in Gainesville Florida. •Several of the Senior Young Marines are scheduled to go to Washington D.C. for Memorial Day.
8. Fallen Marine Program Report: Bob Brown
9 marines were honored in the past month.
9. Social Events Chairman Report: None
10. Marine Mud Run Report: Gene Furrow •Complimented Karl Eckstrom for his past years as coordinator. •Fun in the Mud scheduled for 22 September 2012. •Volunteers are needed to help fill the many positions at the race.
11. Shooting Events Report: Jim Williams •14 Apr 2012 Jim Peacock Pistol Match. 08h00 – 11h30 will eat. Boston Butt Pulled Pork. $25.00 fee. Shooting from 7yds, 20yds, and then back to 15yds.
•The Bill Gerst Rifle Match is scheduled for 12 May 2012.

•Karl Eckstrom- ETVMA Medal of Honor Dinner, the Det has a table reserved for anyone wanting to go. •Jeff Tegzes- 5-6 May 2012 Gun show at the Expo Center, to set up a booth to recruit new members. A sign-up sheet will be available in April.

The meeting was closed at 19h30 until 24 April 2012.
